Campaign to get 'Untouchable' by Girls Aloud No.1 in June 2011
« on: February 22, 2011, 04:12:05 PM »
Okay, before I do start to explain about this campaigin,I do realise there will be many GA fans who will be sceptical about this, particularly as a campaign was set up in 2009 to get 'Untouchable' into the top 10. I was apart at that campaign,in that I downloaded the song, and was gutted like many other fans that it failed to get 'Untouchable' into the chart posistion that it truly deserved. A couple of weeks ago,I was thinking over, would it be really possible to get 'Untouchable' to No.1 this year. At the time,I was not optimistic,I admit and said "No way,top 10,is realistic, but No.1,get a life!" So I left it at that. But I was listening to a music channel a few days ago and they were playing 'Untouchable' and I kept thinking "Wow,this is such a brillaint song!" I realised, that, hey,it may not get NO.1,but we can sure as hell try to make it possible!

I know that a lot of you heard, that the main reason the last campaign didn't work was because most fans downloaded from Nokia, myself included,as it was the cheapest way to go. But,now, that we did know why it charted so low despite efforts of the campaign,we can now try again!
I completely understand if a lot of you will not want to participate - it's understandable for fans to be dead set against participating - particularly after last time. But I will ask you,to at least read my post and idea before completely making your mind up. Again, even after you read and you still  don't want to participate, that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, after all, even when it is Girls Aloud, aha.

I was planning on setting up an email account, emailing all the group members and fully outlining the plan to them,so they have no uncertainities. Links will of course be included and the campaign will fully be explained so that  fans don't go downloadingOkay, before I do start to explain about this campaigin,I do realise there will be many GA fans who will be sceptical about this, particularly as a campaign was set up in 2009 to get 'Untouchable' into the top 10.   Before we even start promoting the campaign and getting media attention,we neeed to get organised. As it stands, the group has 60 members, looooong way to go before we get a number that will ensure the song gets No.1 I   Secondly,to promote the campaign, obvs we need to promote. So we need to advertise on places such as Twitter,Facebook,Bebo and Myspace. Basically, anywhere there's fans! Also,if any sties dedicated to the girls could help out, that would be a major help.

Just to remind you,the Sites that DO count towards the charts are listed as follows:

ITUNES (Please try and D/L from here as it's the biggest site in the UK to count towards the charts)

AMAZON

PLAY.COM

NOKIA DO NOT COUNT!!!!

Thirdly, obviously media is a big way to get the campaign noticed. An idea I had to get the song noticed would be to maybe text into music channels like STARZ and request for the Untouchable video to be played. Also,to request radio stations to play Untouchable would be a massive help. Newspapers and teen mags,I'm sure, would be able to give the campaign a mention. But we can't do that, until we get a good amount of members.

Lastly, the date. The idea is for fans to download the song in the last week of June to tie in with Cheryl's birthday. June is also nearly 4 months away,so it does gives the page a lot of time to get members.
I know A LOT of you will be apprehensive about contributing to the campaign, seeing as it did fail the last time and a lot of you will think a No.1 will be impossible to achieve. But IT IS GIRLS ALOUD and I know that they do have thousands of fans that want them back together. Hey,you never know! If this works, maybe GA will announce a come-back date ;) Thing is,I do want to try this and I've spoken to other fans who want to try it do. It may work,it may not work. But we can't know, until we try, right?  :)

sarahbaybee - I completely agree with you, and I also said many times that it didn't work first time round because of that nokia thing. but if people bought it from sites that we are sure that count to charts then it would pe possible.

however - most of people only laugh and make fun of you when you mention campaigns like this so because of that - it's impossible to get the song even in top 100...we should just give up and deal with the fact it charted outside top 10.

if people who are negative about this could just not write anything instead "LOL", then we would have lot of positive posts here and it could make people think it's possible and maybe it would even work, but if all we have is "LOL, it will never happen, you're stupid etc" then no - it won't happen.

I am pretty sure that was aimed at me?

Well back when the first campaign happened, I helped out loads and was constantly posting for better not to be negative.

We had all will power back then and it didn't even hit the top 100, people are not gonna put in time and effort again and again. People need to realise its never gonna happen no matter how many of these campaigns we do.

Yes putting "LOL" was negative but they were my thoughts that a facebook page with 70 odd fans is gonna get the track into the top 10.

^ I did say that the group had a long way to go before getting a number to ensure to get it even No.1

And yes,you don't think it will happen. That's your opinion and I do respect that. But there are a lot of fans that do think this will happen so if you no interest in this campaign. Please do not post in this thread,if you're only going to be negative

I want to be optimistic but I think the time has gone for getting a top 10 for Untouchable. If Cheryl struggled to get a decent chart position with The Flood I can't see us doing any better with a song that's already been released once.

Thanking Jodie for telling me how to do my sig and Luke for my fantastic avatar.

No, it wasn't aimed particulary at you, but we had threads like this and all that people poted was "LOL" and things like that (and you can see the same thing is happening again...so no wonder this will never happen, people are just too negative)
I mean is it so hard to try again, even if it fails at least we know we tried, what's so bad about that?
we know why it failed first time - because of that nokia thing, everybody used that because it was free and in the end it didn't count, I just don't get it why people don't take that in consideration when they say it will fail again - it won't if we use only sites that deffinitely count to charts.

It will fail again, because unlike last time, people are not willing to take part on it. I think it is reason enough, isn't it.

Your joking right?, singles sales are getting stronger and stronger every year the is no chance of  making it  top 10. Most people can't afford to buy songs they already own over and over again people have bills to pay and can't afford to burn money.

come on, we're talking about a few pounds here, nobody asked people to spend a fortune...

well obviously that's the reason, but why aren't people willing to try again - because every time they come to threads like this all they see is negative comments and people laughing at those who are willing to try...so no wonder nobody wants to try - thanks to only a few people.

Yeah, but we tried it, it failed, everyone got on board and we pulled together. We all own loads of Untouchables now and people don't want to waste their money.
